Flowers
On concrete
Show me
When our eyes meet
Don’t come closer
I don’t want your love
Butterflies
On the pavement
Show me
What your smile meant
Don’t come closer
I don’t want your love
One small step
is all it takes
One small tug
for the rope to break
To be lost inside
These haunted woods
Where witches kiss
And hungry wolves prowl
I’ve been here before
And I don’t
I don’t want to go there no more
About I Don’t Want Your Love
I was fascinated by the genius ‘In the house, without a heartbeat’ by John Murphy in the horror movie ’28 days later’. The layering of instruments, adding up bar by bar, all building around those two eery notes, creating a tension that haunts the listener… I wanted to do something similar with a song I was working on.
The lyrics in this song are all contradiction and contrast, reflecting the inner turmoil of the protagonist who finds himself struggling against temptation. Sometimes yes is no, and no is yes…
